HUGShare

Do you have a Crystal Report to share that could be useful to other HUG members? If so, send them to Tom Hokanson for posting on HUGShare. Follow these easy steps:

1. Generate a sample of your report and from Crystal's preview window, export the report to RTF or PDF format.

2. Send the RTF or PDF file, along with the Crystal Report (.RPT) file, to  support@halfile.com. In the subject of the e-mail, just put "HUGShare report". In the body, enter a short report description or title.

The RTF or PDF file is posted as a viewable sample of the report. The .RPT file is posted as a downloadable report file. HUG members can view the report sample and, if the report looks useful, the .RPT report can be downloaded.

How to use a HUGShare Report  (top)

1.    Download the report and save it to the appropriate folder. The report will have a .rpx extension so it can be downloaded. Rename the report file to have a .rpt extension.

2.    If the report runs in halFILE Search, Insert a New Report from the Report Panel of Search and point it to the downloaded report.

3.    From the Report Panel, go into the Crystal Designer.

4.    Select the Database-Set Location menu.

5.    Select the database file or File Data Source that you use for reports. If the database does not match exactly the report sample, a screen is shown to map your fields to the fields of the database for which the report was created. Some fields may drop off.

6.    You will have to add these back onto the report using the Field Explorer.
